The most asked question is: What should we look for in a Nanny before deciding to hire for our childcare needs?

The Nanny will play a huge, vital role in your family.  Look for these qualities before hiring:

  • A genuine enjoyment of the children
  • Enthusiastic, conscientious, and caring personality traits
  • An understanding nature, even-keeled personality, good habits
  • Able to speak of likes and dislikes easily without hesitation or accusation
  • Ability to communicate openly and honestly
  • Able to take initiative and support the family environment
  • Childcare Education degree (not always needed but a plus!)
  • Several years of childcare experience

Specific Duties and Responsibilities typically included in Full Time and Part Time Permanent Placements:

  • Maintain a routine beginning in the morning with breakfast and ending with dinner
  • Child related errands
  • Household cleaning for children, kitchen clean up, some light vacuuming, children's' laundry
  • Preparing food for children and possibly family
  • Dressing/Bathing children
  • Providing transportation to and from school, activities, play dates
  • Imparting discipline. Nanny must be consistent with the parenting style demonstrated by parents.
  • And other duties sought out by Family

FT Permanent Nannies are hired by Families that are looking to make at least a year commitment to their hired
professional.  These Nannies will be there as a functioning, intricate addition to your family.  They will become
involved, integrated and develop a strong, healthy relationship with the entire family; many staying on for years.
Salary for FT Nanny: 34-45 hours per week, average $425-700 Gross wkly, dependant upon duties
Salary for PT Nanny: 28-33 hours per week, average $300-425 Gross wkly, dependant upon duties
Nannies should also receive benefits.  This can be in any combination of paid sick/vacation/holidays, mileage
reimbursement and possibly contributions towards health care.

PT Permanent Nannies: Our agency will accept families searching for a PT Nanny, within these guidelines:
  • Family (preferably) is a referral from another client or Nanny
  • hours will need to be consecutive, i.e. M-F, M/T/W/TH, T/W/TH/F, W/TH/F, etc... with a minimum of 24 hours
    per week and a 1 year placement.
These Nannies again will be integrated and will build a healthy, long relationship with your family.
Salary for PT Nanny: 2
4-33 hours per week, average $300-425 Gross wkly, dependant upon duties
Nannies should also receive
minimal benefits.  This can be in any combination of paid sick/vacation/holidays,
mileage reimbursement and possibly contributions towards health care.

On-Call Nannies (Sitters) can take care of any and all temporary childcare needs. Families use our Temporary
Nanny Services for a variety of situations including: luncheons, shopping day, date nights, weekend vacations,
school breaks and holidays, or as backup for their regular childcare provider.
$11 per hour minimum, with a 4 hour minimum. Rates/hours are effective 1-1-11

Long Term Temporary Nannies are there for your family when your regular caregiver is on vacation, you need
someone to help you after your delivery, your children are in cycle school, you need a Nanny for less than a year,
the children are in-between daycares or pre-schools, etc... Salary, see PT Nanny, hourly rate of 11$ an hour
permissible also.

Our Applicant Screening Process

  1. The Screening Process begins with the initial call or email from the potential candidate. Applicants that meet
    our eligibility requirements are asked to first complete an extensive application, and then are scheduled for an
    in-person interview.
  2. During the interview, NannyMall asks varying, in-depth questions that apply to their background, experience
    and personality in order to gain a better picture of their qualifications.
  3. Our staff collects letters of reference and/or contacts the applicant's past employment and asks detailed
    questions about the Nanny's previous job performance.
  4. NannyMall runs a Criminal check and also a MO Child Abuse & Neglect Screening. Driving background can be
    ordered by Family at $22 or completed on their own.
  5. Once the Nanny successfully completes all stages of the screening process, they are added to our pool of
    available candidates and are ready for interview with your family!
**Family may view an applicant's portfolio at any time but we do not allow applicant to accept an offer of hire until
background checks have been completed and cleared.
